A note from from Tom Richards,
Local Area Coordination Network Manager

Hello and welcome to the Local Area Coordination Network Newsletter!

This past month we’ve had the pleasure of spending time with Network members across England – from Surrey, to Nottinghamshire, and Kirklees. Even though each area is different, and is adapted to the uniqueness of their communities and the local service system, the essence of Local Area Coordination remains the same:

  • Take time to get to know people, their lives and the future they want for themselves
  • Understand that people are best placed to make their own decisions
  • Reflect the strengths and capabilities of a person, rather than assessing problems and deficits

Being part of the national Network is about far more than accessing resources, training, events and development support (although these are great as well). It’s about every member contributing to the shared culture of Local Area Coordination, supporting each other, learning from each other’s experience, growing our movement, and advocating for support which treats people and communities with the respect and dignity we all deserve. If you’d like to learn more about Local Area Coordination, or would like to enquire about joining the Network, please contact LACN@communitycatalysts.co.uk.

Enjoy the Newsletter!
