Welcome to this month’s newsletter, brimming with valuable content from the world of Local Area Coordination and beyond. A special thank you to Lily for her exceptional work in putting this together.
While July may have been a bit of a weather washout, the world of Local Area Coordination has been anything but dreary. We are thrilled to witness positive growth and development in several of our Network areas, as we welcome new Local Area Coordinators and communities into our fold. Exciting progress is also being made with our new partners, Oxfordshire County Council and South Tyneside Council, as they take significant strides towards implementing Local Area Coordination in their regions.
Recently, we’ve been engaged in discussions with various potential new areas eager to explore Local Area Coordination’s transformative approach. These conversations have been enlightening and inspiring, as we discuss the ambitious prospect of reimagining approaches based on citizens’ strengths and visions of a better life rather than focusing on problems, deficits, and service pathways.
In our featured blog this month, we delve into the issue of ‘fixing’, referencing the Local Area Coordination concept of Safe Waiting: a commitment to focusing on people’s gifts, strengths, and aspirations for a better life, particularly during times of personal concern and challenges. Working in this way helps to uphold the Local Area Coordination vision and offer, forging relationships that are centred around people’s resources, potential, and the abundant energy present within our communities.
